What Your Partner's Favorite Sex Position Says About Him

Some men love missionary, and some dudes dig doggystyle. Others like you on top, while certain guys stick with spooning. Sure, his favorite sex position is probably the one that gives him the best orgasm—but on a subconscious level, his go-to move also says something about his personality in the sack.
MISSIONARY
The move:
Missionary is like Sex 101: It's the way we're "taught" to have sex, and the way that we see it most often in rom-coms and TV shows. But although this position is a classic, a Missionary Man might be a little insecure or "need reassurance by seeing his lover be responsive," says sex therapist Ava Cadell, PhD, author of Neurolovology. He may also be keen on having control during sex, as missionary gives him all the driving power. Since the position finds both people face-to-face, there's some intimacy to it—but its basicness suggests the guy might not be confident about the other moves in his arsenal. "It's romantic, but not very adventurous," Cadell says.
Switch things up: There's nothing wrong with loving the classics, but make sure he takes a walk on the wild side every now and then. If he can only climax during missionary, that's a problem, Cadell says, and there needs to be some "reprogramming" to the sex life. Try switching to woman on top, which has all of the same intimate qualities, but will let him relinquish some of that control—and spice things up.
DOGGYSTYLE
The move:
We've never met a guy who didn't like doggy. This, some believe, is how man was meant to have sex. A doggy-lover "taps into his territorial animalistic instinct as king of the jungle," says Cadell, "but he also has fears of intimacy and is generally unromantic." After all, he probably doesn't go for rear entry because he wants to whisper sweet nothings in your ear from behind.
Switch things up: He can get the deepest penetration from this position, but what's earned in depth is lost in intimacy. To make up for it, spring for spoons every now and then. He'll still get to enter from behind, but you'll both get the snuggly qualities of spooning sex.
WOMAN ON TOP
The move:
The beauty of this position is that there are a million ways to do it—and it's all up to the woman. Men who love their women on the saddle are likely concerned with pleasing their partners, and Cadell says this move shows that "he's confident in being submissive, but he can also be dominant when he enables her to reach her orgasm with deeper penetration." Basically, he gets off helping you get off.
Switch things up: We get that men like the view from down there, but it's a good idea for him to take control every now and again by flipping you over. You'll appreciate the occasional shift in power, and the view isn't bad from back there, either, if we do say so ourselves.
SPOONING
The move:
Given that spooning is most often associated with cuddling and sleep, it's no surprise that this super intimate position is often the go-to for guys who have a soft spot. But men who love the move aren't wimps—instead, they're "passionate and eager to please their lover," Cadell says.
Switch things up: Everyone likes to experience the sweeter side of sex, and props to him for being a romantic. But he can still be intimate while igniting a little more fire into your sex life. While he's in the spooning position, he can reach around to stimulate your clitoris, or try a position like missionary where you can gaze lovingly into each other's eyes while getting even deeper penetration.
STANDING
The move: Pressed against the front door, hoisted onto the kitchen counter, or in the shower, you can have standing sex anywhere but the bed. That's why guys who like this position best are adventurous, and often turned on by the idea of being naughty. The Standing Man is a "mischievous lover who gets a thrill out of getting caught, and wants to have as much fun as possible with little regard of the consequences," says Cadell.
Switch things up: Novelty is part of what keeps your sex life hot, so don't let yours simmer down by going to the same standing position time after time. Vary up the locations you choose, or switch to doggy from time to time to keep things interesting.

4 Things That Happen To Your Vagina During Sex

Women's Health and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) teamed up on an exclusive survey that revealed how much women know about their own anatomy. The answer, sadly: Not a whole lot. To help you better understand your nether regions, here's this guide to what happens to your vagina during sex.
When something sexy piques a man's interest, he gets an erection. What happens to you is less outwardly obvious but just as stimulating...
1. The second your brain senses some potential action, your blood vessels expand and direct extra flow south. The increased circulation spurs vaginal secretions—natural lube made up of proteins and amino acids—and a plumping of the vulva. Thousands of nerve endings in the vagina's most sensitive areas light up.
2. Tissues in your clitoris swell and stiffen. Yes, we're talking mini erection. If you're completely turned on, your clitoris can triple in size. (It takes a while post-sex for it to shrink back down, though; during this interim, it can be difficult for some women to urinate.)
3. Your cervix softens and, if it or a major surrounding nerve is stroked by a penis or toy during sex, it may light up the same pleasure areas in your brain that are activated by foreplay.
4. In about 10% of women, pelvic floor muscle contractions during orgasm can propel a few drops of clear fluid out of the urethra. Don't sweat it: "Female ejaculation" is not pee; it's made up of natural sugars and prostatic acid phosphatase, a chemical also found in semen.

MH370 search: Families vent anger over inquiry

Relatives of those missing on Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 are angry at apparent mixed signals over whether part of the plane has been found.
Malaysian PM Najib Razak said experts in France had "conclusively confirmed" the wing part found on an island in the Indian Ocean was from the aircraft.
But French investigators stopped short of confirming the link, only saying it was highly likely.
Chinese relatives staged a protest outside the airline's Beijing offices.
The Boeing 777 was travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on 8 March 2014 when it vanished from radar. It had 239 people on board, most of them Chinese.
Debris found on the remote French island of Reunion a week ago - a wing part known as a flaperon - was the first possible physical trace of the aircraft.
Experts in the French city of Toulouse are carrying out tests on the aircraft piece.
Mr Najib, in an announcement that came after the first day of tests, said investigators had "conclusively confirmed that the aircraft debris found on Reunion Island is indeed from MH370".
Malaysian transport minister Liow Tiong Lai said elements of the flaperon, including the paint colour, matched with maintenance records for the missing flight.
He also said, in another development, that more suspected plane debris had been found on Reunion, including window panes and seat cushions.
Those items had been sent to French authorities to be verified, he said, although French investigators have denied this.
Mr Liow said he understood why the French team had been less categorical in their conclusions over the flaperon, saying: "We respect their decision to continue with their verification."
French prosecutor Serge Mackowiak has said only that there are "very strong indications" that the flaperon does belong to MH370, adding that confirmation would only come after further tests.
The BBC's Hugh Schofield in Paris says Mr Mackowiak's wording does not suggest he has doubts, but that he is exercising legal caution.

Who has said what about the flaperon?
  • Malaysian PM: "Experts have conclusively confirmed that the aircraft debris found on Reunion Island is indeed from MH370."
  • Malaysia Airlines: "This is indeed a major breakthrough for us."
  • French investigators: "There exists a very high probability that the flaperon indeed belongs to Flight MH370."
  • Australian PM: Debris "does seem to indicate the plane did come down more or less where we thought it did".
  • Australian search team: "It is heartening that the discovery of the flaperon is consistent with our search area."
  • Passenger's relative, Sara Weeks: "After 17 months, we need definite answers."
  • Grey line
But the lack of a consistent message from the various authorities has angered many of the families of those missing.
A number of relatives gathered outside Malaysia Airlines' offices in Beijing to demand answers.
"France is being cautious about it, but Malaysia is desperate to put an end to this case and run away from all responsibilities," said Dai Shuqin, sister of one of the passengers.
"We suspect that the plane wreckage could be faked," said Liu Kun, whose younger brother was on the plane.
  • Many relatives have long been frustrated by Malaysia's handling of the disaster, which at times has been marred by contradictory and conflicting information.
Because of this, many families have pretty much lost trust and don't know what to believe anymore, the BBC's John Sudworth reports from Beijing.
China's foreign ministry said Malaysia must keep investigating the crash and "safeguard the legitimate rights and interests" of relatives.
  • Australia, which is leading the search for the plane in the southern Indian Ocean, said the discovery of the flaperon suggested they were looking in the right area.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott said the search would continue as "we owe it to the hundreds of millions of people who use our skies".
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has been co-ordinating the deep-sea hunt in the southern Indian Ocean, where the plane is believed to have gone down, thousands of miles east of Reunion.

Hot Weather

You don't have to turn into a hot mess this summer: Steal these secrets to avoid makeup meltdowns, excess shine, and raccoon eyes

Beach weekends, backyard BBQs, brunch at sidewalk cafĂ©s: You want to be outside enjoying the long, sunny days—and look great doing it. "Summer makeup should feel as comfortable as your favorite T-shirt," says Troy Surratt, founder of Surratt Beauty. But unless you're in some sort of perfect-climate dome, you know the havoc steamy temps can wreak. Happily, these strategies and beauty finds stand the test of time—and humidity.A Fresher Face

Rethink your lotion: A rich moisturizer—paired with all that humidity—can cause makeup to slide off. "I tell my clients to use their heavy-duty creams at night, so skin is soft and smooth for foundation come morning," says Mally Roncal, founder of Mally Beauty.Remember that it's all about that base: Switch to a long-wearing foundation, like MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation ($32; nordstrom.com). It tends to have less slip. Blend with a damp makeup sponge: "When wet, the sponge will bounce over skin, depositing the perfect amount of coverage for a dewy finish," Surratt says. Then gently press a tissue over your face to lift off any excess oil.

Banish grease: As the day goes on and your face gets moist, powder will settle in all the wrong places (those lines and creases). So use a mattifying balm to nix the slick instead. Try Revlon PhotoReady Prime + Anti Shine Balm ($12; target.com).Budgeproof Blush

Fight the fade: "Creamy formulas melt into skin, imparting a natural glow," Roncal says. We like Charlotte Tilbury Colour of Youth Lip & Cheek Glow ($58; charlottetilbury.com). Dust a similar shade of powder blush right on top to keep color intact.

All-day radiance: "Everyone looks better with some warmth in their skin," Surratt says. He suggests sweeping bronzer over the places where you overheat first—across the hairline, down the nose and up the cheeks. Our pick: Make Up For Ever Pro Bronze Fusion ($36;sephora.com).

Pretty Eyes Now

Start with a clean slate: "Remove every stitch of oil before you put on shadow so it won't slide," says New York City celebrity makeup artist Suzy Gerstein. She swipes a remover-soaked cotton pad over lids before dabbing on a layer of primer to create a base.

Lighten up: Stick to pale, shimmery shadows, which have a brightening effect in the sun, Surratt says. He likes champagne, warm gold and crystal blue. Opt for creamier versions of your fave summer shade, since they have less fallout. Try Guerlain Summer Waterproof Cream Eye Shadow in Ocean Blue and White Sand ($32 each; guerlain.com).

Layer your liner: Dip a liner brush in gel eyeliner and push it right against the lash line for subtle definition. "Then trace with powder shadow to set it," Roncal says.

Seal the deal: No need to give up your go-to mascara just because it isn't waterproof. After you put it on, apply a water-resistant topcoat, like the new Clarins Double Fix' Mascara ($22;nordstrom.com). Says Surratt, "I love that these formulas keep you from rocking a pair of raccoon eyes but don't feel like tar on your lashes."

Lasting Lip Color

Add a hint of tint: Gloss may be light, but it has a habit of slip-sliding away. Instead, Gerstein says, fill in your entire mouth with a pencil the shade of your lips, then top with a tinted balm. A good combo: It Cosmetics YLBB Waterproof Lip Liner Stain in Blushing Nude ($20; ulta.com) and Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Hydrating Lip Balm in N.10 ($36; neimanmarcus.com).

Boost staying power: To keep color from feathering and weathering, trace the rim of your mouth with concealer, Roncal recommends, using a thin lip brush for precision.

Sunscreen that looks good on you
The latest formulas are light and sheer—anything but goopy and ghostlike.

Mighty mist: Coola SPF 30 Makeup Setting Spray ($36; sephora.com). Shield your skin as you set your makeup with this invisible spray; infused with green tea and aloe, it feels wonderfully cooling on hot days.

Safety tint: Skinceuticals Physical Matte UV Defense SPF 50 ($25; amazon.com). The cream is perfect for summer: It provides just enough coverage (no foundation needed), mattifies oily skin and, of course, protects against sun damage.

Everyday essential: Tarteguard 30 Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($32; sephora.com). Made with maracuja oil and red algae, this nonsticky physicial block softens skin. Wear it alone or apply before primer.

Powder protection: ColoreScience Sunforgettable Mineral Sunscreen Brush SPF 30 ($42;amazon.com). This powder provides a soft-focus finish and a broad-spectrum UV block; the self-dispensing brush makes it a no-brainer to apply.
